On July, 1 in the Small hall of the Academy of Music and Theatre within the III Krasnoyarsk International Music Festival of Asian-Pacific region there performed a duet from the USA - Martin Piecuch (saxophone) and Regan Ryzuk (piano).
The musicians performed classical works by J.-S. Bach, P. Tchaikovsky, jazz improvisations on well-known classical themes of “Manha de carnaval” by L.Bonfa, "Samba de uma nota so” by A.K.Jobim, as well as Concert Tango, Rumba and two parts from the Suite "History of Tango" by Astor Piazzolla.
Martin Piecuch is a famous conductor and musician, a brilliant player on many wind instruments: saxophone, clarinet, flute, bassoon, oboe, and a rare brass instrument - bass flute. At the end of the concert Martin Piecuch arranged a real show - he played two instruments simultaneously, joking in Russian, and one of the compositions was dedicated to his wife, who was present at the concert. The musician gave three encores. The public stood to clap him, not letting the maestro leave the stage. After the concert Martin Piecuch long signed autographs to his admirers.
We’d like to remind, that Martin Piecuch was a participant of the II Krasnoyarsk International Music Festival of Asian-Pacific region in 1995.
At parting he expressed his wish to meet more jazz performers at the next festival.
"Music is the embodiment of folk culture, it is life itself. I am glad to see that the festival unites three important directions of music: folk, symphonic, and jazz. For the next festival I would like to prepare a jazz concert with Krasnoyarsk musicians. It would be an interesting experience for us, "- said the maestro.
