Concert of the Art Group “Organ vs. Percussion” (Russia) revealed new faces of the classics
In the Krasnoyarsk Organ Philharmonic Hall there took place a concert of art group "Organ vs. Percussion ». The musicians of this group are winners of international and national competitions Dmitry Ushakov and Maria Blazevich, and one of the best Siberia percussionists Vladimir Dorokhov.
“Organ Vs. Percussion” is a young project of the Tomsk Philharmonic. It was the first performance of this trio in the Organ Hall. The Art group performed the music of various styles and genres, both traditional and modern ones, written specifically for Organ and Percussion instruments. Among sounded compositions there were popular classic works, jazz versions of famous works and compositions of the new format, composed just for such an unusual combination of instruments.
The musicians demonstrated virtuosic playing and their multifaceted creation. "Libertango" by Astor Piazzolla was dynamic and emotional and Concerto for Organ and Percussion "Constellations» by Dan Locklair was lyrical and calm. The biggest surprise for the public was the jazz interpretation of "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" by J.- S. Bach, which finished the concert.
The first concert of the art group was held in Tomsk in 2013 and became a real sensation. Performances of the ensemble in Russia and abroad show growing public interest in this unusual form of making music. Now the musicians are preparing for a European tour.
Note: the performance of this group was held within the framework of the IV Krasnoyarsk International Music Festival of the Asia-Pacific region, which will last until July 4, 2014
