4.20“Music education system in Venezuela” documentary screening and presentation (Venezuela)State Universal Scientific Library of the Krasnoyarsk region

Today Venezuela music vanguard consists of representatives of unique system of mass music education and social adaptation of children through art. The system was developed in the middle 70th upon an initiative of Jose Antonio Abreu who was a teacher, musician, economist and social politician.

The key objective of the Aubrey’s initiative is to raise an educated social person.  There is no adjustment for each Venezuela citizen to become a professional musician, but there is conviction that they can become true citizens of their country. Society is a perfect environment for creating social ideology. That is why the case of mass music education in Venezuela Is a case of establishing and developing children’s music ensembles and groups: symphony orchestras and choirs. From the very first lesson children start playing in the orchestra or singing in the choir not even knowing the music scores.  These days the country experiences the real music boom. The music education system of Venezuela deserves to be thoroughly studied.

4.30 pmOpening of the “World Peace” art exhibition (China)114 Karla Marksa street

A travelling exhibition "World Piece” is held annually under the aegis of UNESCO in different countries (USA, India, Taiwan, Russia and etc). This year, the 22nd exhibition will take place in Krasnoyarsk.  Over 80 works in Guohua style from established and emerging Chinese artists will be presented at the exhibition. Guohua is a traditional Chinese painting which is done with a brush dipped in black ink or colored pigments on paper and silk.

4.50 pmCalligraphy master-class (Japan)

Calligraphy is one of the most popular kinds of fine arts in Japan and is called shodou (書道 «the way of writing»). Shodou pieces of work combine aesthetics and harmony with deep philosophical content. Often the meaning of elegant written character is more complicated and thought-provoking than its original meaning.

7 pm“Romeo and Juliet” Ballet (2 acts) (Russia, Japan). Devoted to the Sergey Prokofyev’s 125th  birthday.Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre 2 Perensona street

“Romeo and Juliet” is one of the best ballets of the 20th century. Probably there is no any other Russian ballet that can display such quantity of interesting dramatic characters that are outstanding not only by its choreography, but also by great acting skills. This is a completely new type of ballet performance. S. Prokofyev managed to create a synthesis of drama, music and choreography.

“Romeo and Juliet” Ballet is one of the most significant interpretations of Shakespeare’s tragedy of young loving boy and girl from opposing ancient families.

This work of S. Prokofyev has a complicated history. The music has been written in a short time but public didn’t accept it, because they felt it was not suitable for ballet and that made stage producers very concerned.  For the very first time it has to be staged at The Bolshoy Theatre, but later has been rejected. “Romeo and Juliet” in Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre is a completely original stage work with unique choreography by Sergey Bobrov, the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.

In 2006 the ballet had three nominations at the “Golden Mask” Theatre Award. In this ballet all the finest psychological movements of people’s souls are accurately played. The poetry of love of Romeo and Juliet, humor and pranks of Mercutio, simplicity of the Nurse, wisdom of Lorenzo, rage and fury of Tibald, festive and loud atmosphere of Italian streets, tenderness of sunrise and dramatic death scenes – all that is extremely strong and expressive in the ballet.

1-1.15 pmOpening of the “#Heart_of_the_Festival” art installation. Artist – Vasily Slonov (Russia)Mira square (Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic Hall) 2b Mira prospect

«Heart of the festival» is a popular art object that flowed over the Internet on APF spectators' pictures and was also mentioned in The Wall Street Journal.

Heart is the symbol of life, energy, movement and love. All this things represent the program and the atmosphere of the Festival. This time the Heart will be filled with hashtags - a type of label used to collect messages with a specific theme or content into a single stream. Nowadays the hashtag is a form of declaration, disposition, interior monologue or subconscious thoughts. People all over the world use hashtags to keep up-to-date with things they are into. This word ‘hashtag’ has become a symbol of modern culture in the last 5 years. If hashtags draw Internet users as a beacon, then the art object «#Heart of the festival» will draw Krasnoyarsk residents and visitors to take part into its diverse and vibrant program. Big, filled with little «beacons» Heart of the Festival reflects emotions, memories, impressions, places and festival venues, the basic principles and the concept of this major international music event.

They have performed at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Western Division Conference in Tucson 2010 and in Santa Barbara 2013 and also have performed at the ACDA National Conference in Chicago 2011. Summer of 2009, they traveled to Wales where they competed in the Eisteddfod Choral Competition and placed 1st in the Mixed Choir Division.  In 2011, they competed in the California International Choral Competition in San Luis Obispo, CA and took home first place in three different categories.  In 2012 they were selected to perform at the NCCO (National Collegiate Choral Organization) national conference and they were the only community college choir to be invited to perform.  In the summer of 2013, the Chamber Singers competed in a choral competition in Yeosu, South Korea and took first place in the folk division.  The Chamber Singers often have opportunities to perform with special guest artists such as chorus for Dreamgirls, Don Shelton (member of the Hi-Lo’s), Grammy Award Winner Jon Secada, and as chorus for the Star Wars in Concert.  They have also performed at the TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) conference for Eric Whitacre, who was selected to be one of the speakers at their national conference.

Bandoneonist Daniel Binelli, pianist Polly Ferman and guitarist Eduardo Isaac collaborate to recreate a repertoire ranging from old tango by Medizabal to compositions of the new century. The initial collaboration of Binelli and Isaac was the recording of the Double Concerto for Bandoneon and Guitar by Astor Piazzolla, with the Argentine National Symphony Orchestra in 1997. They later recorded this masterpiece of Argentine music with the Montréal Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Charles Dutoit for Decca. Ferman, having previously performed and recorded in duo with Binelli, joined these two outstanding musicians for Tango in Concierto at the Colon Theatre of Mar del Plata in 2004. With a multitude of individual recordings to their names, the trio is now recording their first CD together in Buenos Aires, for release in late2006. With his background as bandoneonist and his work on arrangements in the almost mythical orchestra of Osvaldo Pugliese, Daniel Binelli toured the world as a member of the Sextet of the creator of nuevo tango, Astor Piazzolla. Always open to new ideas, this native of Buenos Aires creates brilliant compositions in Argentina’s contemporary idiom. One of the leading interpreters of the music of the Americas, Uruguayan pianist Polly Ferman captivates audiences with her illuminating performances of works by Gottschalk, Nazareth, Villa-Lobos, Ginastera and Piazzolla. Her mastery of this literature prompted The Japan Times to recognize her as a “Musical Ambassador of the Americas.” A guitarist who honors the tradition of his instrument on the Rio de la Plata, Eduardo Isaac’s interpretative excellence is met with great admiration from specialized critics. Considered one of a select group of new generation guitarists, he is often featured at major international festivals. International masters all, they perform the world over to wide acclaim. The trio merges the unlimited resources of the piano, guitar and bandoneon to delve into the language of tango in unexpected ways. With this exceptional ensemble, we enjoy the tense and obsessive pulse of the music of Buenos Aires, its provocative sadness and existential expression.

7 pmSwan Lake Ballet (4 acts) (Russia, Japan)Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre 2 Perensona street

Swan Lake Ballet in Krasnoyarsk is a new original production of choreographer and stage director Segey Bobrov, an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and Artistic Director of the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre. This ballet became an important milestone for the theatre’s ballet troupe in their creative career.

The scenario, initially in two acts, was fashioned from Russian folk tales and tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse. The choreographer of the original production was Julius Reisinger. The ballet was premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet on 4 March 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Although it is presented in many different versions, most ballet companies base their stagings both choreographically and musically on the 1895 revival of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, first staged for the Imperial Ballet on 15 January 1895, at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. For this revival, Tchaikovsky's score was revised by the St. Petersburg Imperial Theatre's chief conductor and composer Riccardo Drigo.

New choreographic version of the Swan Lake Ballet as before is based on unchanging language of classical dance.   A story of acting-dancing drama is extremely important in the Bobrov’s version of the ballet and it definitely is determinative.

«We never come back the way we were…»

«Youth Big Band» is a union of young and professional musician who play together in one big orchestra.

The concert program of the “Time Travellers” includes well-known Russian folk and jazz pieces arranged by LaFrae Sci as well as her original music, that has been written and inspired by her creative, musical and life experience – to Mikhail Bulgakov, the city of Krasnoyarsk, people and musicians who live in Krasnoyarsk and New-York and feeling that they have during their travels.

Travelling is not only a chance to see (or to come again at) a new place, see its nature, architecture and culture. It’s a temporary relocation to another world. Also any travel is a time travel.

Today everyone can take a look at future or past. Some people can do that by changing time zones, some – by music because it has no time limits. That is why the program is based on LaFrae’s personal experience. She travels a lot; she is a Cultural Ambassador, and when she comes to any country first of all she learns its cultural traditions and then reflects it in her music. The same thing happened here in Siberia.

In her program LaFrae tried to express the richness of Russian folklore which goes with jazz music perfectly. Jazz music  is a folklore of Afro-American people. The style of her music can be described as a collaboration of jazz, blues, folk of two cultures – Afro-American and Russian. At the concert the viewer himself becomes a traveler, with the help of music he looks into past, sees the present and thinks about future.
